Circumference and Radius: C=2πR= Economies of Distance

IMPACT10
Palacete del Embarcadero

Muelle de Calderón, 0 S N, 39003 Santander, Cantabria, SPAIN
September 1-9, 2018

A new stop of this traveling exhibition was during IMPACT10, International Multidisciplinary Printmaking Conference in Spain. I was invited by curator and participating artist Deborah Cornell. My partner in the project was the Finish artist Annu Vertanen who I had the pleasure to meet in 2001 as well as in several opportunities around the world, including a residence together at Inky Paper Series in the University of Wyoming, USA in 2002.

This exhibition includes the work of ten pairs of artist in print media from around the world, from opposing quadrants – countries that (loosely) reflect diverging points on the earth.  The artists are partnered according to position in opposing quadrants of the hemisphere (n/s, e/w).  Themes include shifts of position, arcs, vectors, and arabesques through space and time, imagined connections or relations in global or local space, and shifting concepts of time and distance.   For the project, each invited artist creates a minimum of 4 prints – one to send to the participating artists in the opposite quadrant, and three to send to the organizer.

Curator: Deborah Cornell | Exhibition coordinator: Andrea Juan
