“Father is a collaborative work between artists Alicia Candiani (Argentina) and Malcolm Christian (South Africa). The work conjugates feelings of protection and shelter associated with fatherhood. The book is made with woodcut prints and digital photography on Tibetan paper. The appearance of the outer structure, visually rigid, contrast with the inside, which when opened shows a soft and nuanced enveloping space. The book was made by hand, a collaboration between both artists. While the images and prints belong to Alicia, Malcolm was responsible for the assembly and design of the structure while both artists intervened in the construction of the concept”
