From November 14 to 17, 2019, FIG BILBAO celebrated its eighth edition with Argentina as guest country, a strong international presence and a new program for printmaking workshops. Within this framework, the organizers offered to me to curate the “Cubes of the Temptations” an Emerging Artists Project, to join the Open Portfolio´s International Jury of Awards, to participate in the networking day and to deliverer a lecture about my experience in the international printed art circuits. Proyecto´ace was also invited to participate in the New Workshops Program, awarding the space with a 18m2 booth. Embarked on this agenda, as fascinating as it was ambitious, the days in the thriving Bilbao were intense and productive, generating contacts at local, national and international levels; meeting new artists, gallery owners, collectors and artistic institutions; exchanging with other residency programs and visiting key spaces of the city – such as the headquarters of the University of the Basque Country and the Bilbao Arte Foundation – while giving us the opportunity to show (us) in other settings.” AC

FIG Bilbao is one of the most outstanding events on the European artistic scene. Fully consolidated, the International Festival of Printmaking and Art on Paper, FIG Bilbao, celebrated its eighth edition with an ambitious program that included important developments. From November 14 to 17 the Euskalduna Palace in the Biscay capital hosted more than fifty spaces and several lectures, live demonstrations and workshops. They have reinforced the didactic character of a fair that seeks to promote and support the contemporary art on paper in general. This year FIG Bilbao opened a program of printmaking workshops with demonstrations of different printmaking processes and techniques. The goal of this initiative is to stress the educative nature of the fair and establish exchange networks with international print studios, achieving the mobility of artists and projects while promoting positive artistic synergies.
